BAKLAVA
The story: hard to identify the beginning of baklava and even more difficult to identify its creator, this (very) sweet dessert has been claimed by many. The first mention of the English name has been around 1600s, but the recipe apparently goes back to the 8th century before B.C. I guess we'll never know, but that's ok.
The main ingredients: phyllo pastry (thin layers of flour dough), chopped nuts, honey, cinnamon.
When: last time? Easter 2013.
Where: my Bosnian's friend house who cooked baklava to celebrate Easter. However, coming from the Romanian seaside and living in a city with a large Turkish community, I've been eating baklava pretty much since I was a kid.
Verdict: If you like sweets, then you'll love this. But I am a chocolate freak - I'm not really into sweets, I'm into chocolate. Nothing bad with the baklava, on the contrary! If you have a sweet tough, order a tray, but don't eat it all in one sitting :)
